Intel to launch Comet Lake-S on May 27th

According to Wccftech, Intel is set to launch its mainstream desktop processor series on May 27th. This is the date the embargo for sales and reviews lifts. The announcement will take place just as we reported earlier, on April 30.

This means that the high-end Comet Lake lineup will be released in a span of 2 months. This is the current schedule looks like this:

Intel board partners are already shipping motherboards to reviewers, while CPU samples are expected to ship around mid-April.

The series will feature 10-core CPUs for the first time. The transition to higher core count and higher frequencies will come at the cost of higher TDP. The K series will reportedly ship with a TDP of 125W.

The embargo on Comet Lake-S series lifts on May 27th at 13:00 GMT. On this day sales and reviews will go live. It is likely that on April 30th Intel will release the final specifications of the series along with its internal benchmarks. Board makers are expected to showcase their new Z490, H470 and B460 motherboards.
