NZXT H1 cases recalled over safety concerns

The NZXT H1 is a pretty great ITX case that offers first-time builders an extremely streamlined build process. Calling it a mere “case” would be an understatement though, as it comes with a pre-installed power supply, AIO liquid cooling solution and GPU riser. One of these components may have been acting up in a few cases (pun intended) and NZXT has issued a recall for the NZXT H1.

Here’s the statement which NZXT published on Reddit:

NZXT has identified a potential safety issue with H1 cases and we are working with the US Consumer Products Safety Commission along with the proper global authorities to notify our customers and provide them with a solution.

While we believe this issue only impacts a small percentage of cases, we are playing it safe and have paused sales of the H1 and are developing a simple-to-use repair kit that H1 owners can install themselves without having to ship their cases anywhere.

NZXT did not mention the exact issue, but a Redittor has claimed that the issue might be linked to a screw that secures the bundled PCIe riser in the case. The screw reportedly shorts out his system, and his system would automatically reset if pressure was applied on the graphics card portion of the case.

Considering the current human malware situation, NZXT won’t be needing users to ship their H1 cases to them for a replacement. The issue doesn’t appear to be a major one, as NZXT is preparing a repair kit for users to apply a DIY fix. If you are interested in this case, make sure to check out our review below:
