The long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 is finally here and we can see mixed reviews from reviewers and users from all around the world taking over our social feed since the game goes live. Though it has come to our attention that AMD Ryzen CPU users are having issues with utilizing the full potential of their CPU when playing the game. Since we’ve been testing the game on an Intel test bench since the official launch, we have yet to see any kind of CPU utilization issue with the game.

It’s still unclear if this is an oversight on the game developer while releasing the game in a rush after the pressure from the gaming community for being delayed over and over again but the community is actively looking into this, and Reddit user UnhingedDoork has provided a quick solution to this. The solution has proven to work for some users but it will require some hex editing to get the game to utilize all the cores on your AMD Ryzen CPUs.

We’ve tested this on our AMD Ryzen 7 2700X system with an RTX 2070 and we can confirm that it did improve the overall performance after the solution is applied. What kind of improvement do we get? Well, we’re getting a more consistent frame rate, slightly higher minimum frames after applying the solution. Performance may vary, depending on the Ryzen CPU you’re using but we think that it’s definitely worth a shot if you’re getting terrible frames.

If you’re interested to give it a try, remember to backup the original game executable Cyberpunk2077.exe before you proceed. HXD is not compulsory as it can be done with any hex editor as long you’re comfortable with it and for our case, we’re using the old XVI32 for editing. For those of you who are already familiar with a hex editor, you can head on straight to the offset 0x2A816B3 and change 75 to EB.

As for those of you who are not familiar with a hex editor, you can search for the following hex string 75 30 33 C9 B8 01 00 00 00 0F A2 8B C8 C1 F9 08 and once you’ve located the exact string, replace the value 75 to EB and save the executable. For our case, one of our editors thinks that the hex editing part can be a bit overwhelming to those who are not familiar with any form of hex editor and decided to write a simple patching tool to get the job done. You can find the patch tool he prepared at the following link: https://we.tl/t-eGNE3itdID and follow the instructions below. You can revert the executable to its original state by clicking the restore button, but we recommend you to create a backup of the original game executable Cyberpunk2077.exe just in case.

How to use:
  1. Once you’ve downloaded the patch tool, locate your Cyberpunk 2077 installation folder and place it in the same location as your Cyberpunk2077.exe executable.
  2. Run the patch tool and click on the patch button to apply the solution.
  3. Enjoy the game.

Disclaimer: Only do this if you really know what you’re getting yourself into, at your own risk. As this is only meant for AMD Ryzen CPU users and tested only on Ryzen CPUs (Ryzen 7 5800X and Ryzen 7 2700X for now), Intel CPU users can ignore this as we didn’t notice any significant improvement on our Intel test bench.
