After weeks of leaks and speculation, HONOR has officially lifted the lid off the new HONOR View40 (or HONOR V40 in China) during their “Sense the Future” online event last night. The new HONOR View40 is the first HONOR device since their sale by HUAWEI and touts a waterfall curved 6.72-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate up to 300Hz touch response. Furthermore, the display is a 10-bit (8+2-bit) OLED screen, which gives it the ability to display over 1 billion colours. This allows it to cover the entire DCI-P3 colour space, giving the HONOR View40 professional-level colour accuracy.

In the camera department, the View40 sports a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP RYYB sensor for the main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The selfie camera is a single 16MP shooter, debunking previous rumours saying that the device will feature dual selfie cameras. The HONOR View40 will retail for RMB3,599 (RM2247.56) for the 128GB version while the 256GB version will retail for RMB3,999 (RM2497.35). There is no word yet if the international version of the device will ship with Google Mobile Services so we will just have to wait and see.

HONOR Introduces New Brand Strategy for 2021

HONOR also took the advantage to present their future plans during the launch event. The company revealed that they will continue with their “1+8+N” product strategy and focusing on three key pillars: All Scenarios, All Channels and All People. HONOR stated that they will remain committed to innovating their products through their five R&D centres and over 100

Based on global consumer needs, HONOR has the flexibility and independence to choose the best solutions for its global supply chain. HONOR also announced partnerships with leading suppliers such as AMD, Intel, MediaTek, Micron Technology, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Samsung, SK hynix, and Sony.

Pokdepinion: I really hope that the HONOR View40 comes with GMS when it releases internationally. Would be a shame if it didn’t.
