Disney Plus Malaysia Debut Coming Soon – Official Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia Facebook and Instagram pages are now live!
UPDATE: It seems that the Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia official Facebook page has been taken down though the official Instagram page is still up. It isn’t entirely clear as to why the Facebook page was taken off. For more updates, do stay tuned to Pokde.net.
It’s been a little over a year since Disney launched their online streaming service, Disney+, where it quickly became the exclusive home to all content made and produced by The Walt Disney Company. The content included everything from Star Wars to Marvel movies to original Disney movies; animated or otherwise. However, many Malaysians had to resort to using VPN to access Disney Plus content (or other illegal methods) as the streaming service was not officially available here. Looks like that’s about to change soon.
Disney Plus Malaysia is almost here
Official Disney Plus Malaysia pages have been spotted on both Facebook and Instagram that apparently has been around for a few days under the name Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia. Both of the Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia social media pages are indeed official, as they both sport the blue “verified” tick to their names. At the time of writing, there isn’t much content on both pages, save for teasers with pictures saying “LOADING”.
In a similar fashion to India and Indonesia, Disney Plus Malaysia will launch through Hotstar. For those not in the know, Hotstar is an on-demand streaming platform originating from India and was launched back in 2015. Hotstar, along with its owners Star India were acquired by The Walt Disney Company through Disney’s multi-billion dollar purchase of parent company 21st Century Fox in 2019.
As mentioned before, the Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia pages are a little barren right now, however, some form of an announcement is definitely on the horizon. We’ll just have to stay tuned until then.
Pokdepinion: I have been waiting with bated breath for Disney+ to come here ever since it was announced. Now that we’re literally spitting distance to it, I’m extremely ecstatic. Now I can officially watch Star Wars movies in 4K!
