With 5th August 2020 coming closer and closer, we’re starting to learn more about the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series. According to a notable tipster, there is a good chance that the series will be retaining the Exynos 990 SoC from the Galaxy S20 series.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Series To Use Exynos 990 SoC?

According to tipster Max Weinbach, the only new SoC to be referenced in the upcoming One UI 2.5 is the overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus. Previously, there were rumours of a newer Exynos SoC coming for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series, the Exynos 992. With that now being unlikely, it looks like markets where the Snapdragon variant won’t be available will most likely retain its use of the Exynos 990 SoC.

Samsung fans who are looking for a performance boost might not like this piece of information. This is especially the case as many were expecting to be powered by the upgraded Exynos 992, an SoC built on Samsung’s 6nm fabrication process. Weinbach believes this will be highly unlikely to happen.

The Exynos 990 SoC isn’t a bad chipset on its own. We personally reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and it performed pretty well. With that being said however, we do prefer the Snapdragon 855 Plus that’s running on the Galaxy Z Flip, a foldable smartphone that we also reviewed, thanks to its efficiency.

For now, nothing has been officially confirmed yet so do take this information with a grain of salt. We will be reporting more on this as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.

Pokdepinion: Kinda wished that they would bring the Snapdragon versions here in Malaysia. Either way, I’m still looking forward to the Note 20 series.
