Acer introduces the Spin 5, Aspire 3, Aspire 5, Swift 1 and Nitro 5 in Malaysia

Acer has just introduced the latest additions to their laptop lineup today with the new Acer Spin 5, Acer Aspire 5, Acer Aspire 3, Acer Swift 1 and Acer Nitro 5 powered by AMD. Each laptop is unique in its own way, which means that there something for everyone.

Acer Swift 1 – RM2099

The Acer Swift 1 is the ultraportable for students and casual users in mind, weighing a mere 1.3kg and measuring just 14.9mm thin. Aside from being thin and light, it is also silent, with a fanless design that is sufficient to cool the Intel Pentium Silver N5030 processor inside.

The frugal processor is mated to 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 256GB of PCIe NVMe SSD to satisfy your daily computing needs. Acer equipped the Acer Swift 1 with a 14″ FHD IPS display that sports Acer ExaColor and BlueLightShield for a better working experience.

The Acer Swift 1 is available in two colors, with a safari gold finish and a funkier iridescent color. The former is available immediately, while the latter will be coming in early next month. You get Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019 pre-installed to increase the value proposition. Speaking of which, you can get the Acer Swift 1 for just RM1999 during the ongoing Acer Day promotion from now until 30th September 2020.

Acer Aspire 3 and Aspire 5 – RM2599

Yup, you didn’t read it wrongly. Both the Acer Aspire 3 and Acer Aspire 5 is offered for just RM2599. These laptops are powered by the latest Intel Core i5-1035G1 mated to 4GB DDR4 onboard memory, but that’s about where the similarities end.

Acer Aspire 3

The Acer Aspire 3 sports a larger 15.6″ display and the NVIDIA GeForce MX330 graphics. You can also upgrade the RAM to 20GB if you need more than the built-in 4GB, and there’s even support for an additional 2.5″ SATA drive, in addition to the pre-installed 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. It weighs just 1.9kg and measures 19.95mm thin, which is still very portable.

Acer Aspire 5

If you want an even lighter laptop, the Acer Aspire 5 might be your choice. It weighs just 1.5kg and measures an even svelter 17.95mm thin, but you do lose out on the NVIDIA graphics and also in terms of storage and RAM upgradeability. But fret not, you can still upgrade the RAM to a total of 12GB, and there’s a nippy 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD that sports 32GB of Intel Optane Memory.

You can get the Aspire 5 in Magic Purple, while the Acer Aspire 3 comes in Obsidian Black and Indigo.

Acer Nitro 5 – RM4099

Fancy a  gaming laptop? The Acer Nitro 5 equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processors and GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 is finally here in Malaysia. It comes with 8GB DDR4-3200 out of the box, but you can upgrade it to 32GB if you need to open more Chrome tabs. Pre-installed is a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD, with the option to add another M.2 drive for RAID0 configurations along with support for a 2.5″ SATA drive.

With slim bezels around the 15.6″ 144Hz FHD display, the Acer Nitro 5 remains relatively compact for the amount of firepower it packs. It is 23.9mm thick and 2.2kg heavy, so it isn’t nearly as portable as the laptops we talked about earlier. You can get the Acer Nitro 5 for RM3999 during the Acer Day promotion, RM100 off its usual RM4099 retail price.

Acer Spin 5 – from RM4399

Featuring a unique 13.5″ display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, you get more space to work with on the Acer Spin 5, despite the seemingly small screen. Acer made sure that there’s little wasted space with a 80% screen-to-body ratio. But there’s more to the display than just an unusual aspect ratio.

Acer equips the Acer Spin 5 with the Acer Active Stylus with Wacom AES 1.0 to give you a natural writing or drawing experience with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass to afford it resistance against scratches from the stylus. It also sports a 360° hinge that gives you the flexibility of using it in a myriad of configurations.

The Acer Spin 5 is the most portable laptop we looked at today, weighing just 1.2kg and measuring just 14.9mm thin. Acer managed to achieve this by using a magnesium-aluminium chassis that’s light yet sturdy. You can get the Acer Spin 5 in two configurations, with the higher-end Core i7-1065G7 with 16GB of LPDDR4X memory priced at RM5299, while the lesser RM4399 configuration sees a Core i5-1035G4 mated to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM.
