MCMC Looking to Suspend E-Commerce Platforms With Pirated Goods

In Malaysia, I’m sure you’ve heard of plenty of issues with regards to every telco around. Now, MCMC is looking to improve the situation one step further with the new fast track process.

MCMC Fast Track Process for Malaysian Telcos

MCMC Orders Telcos to Solve Issues Within 10 Business Days Under New Fast Track Process 23

As part of the new fast track process, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has ordered all Malaysian telcos to resolve issues within a period of 10 business days. The idea here is to resolve access issues in high priority areas after a number of complaints from consumers about communication service delays due to prolonged commercial negotiations among service providers.

In the event that the issue isn’t settled within 10 business days, the service provider will have to escalate the issue to MCMC, and they will then make an assessment of the situation. This will be followed by a direction for the telcos to comply with.

The list of high impact areas are listed below:

  • Federal and State government administration centres
  • Transportation hubs
  • Transportation lines
  • High economic impact areas such as industrial parks
  • Identified government projects under RMK-12
  • JENDELA projects
  • High priority areas identified for 5G deployment
  • Areas where there are exclusive providers

The new fast track process will be applicable immediately, and MCMC highlighted that issues that require their attention can be emailed to fast.track (@) mcmc.gov.my. For consumers however, you can file a report with them instead if they didn’t get a satisfactory response from the service providers, and they promise that they will respond within 24 hours. They have a team in each state to ensure that.
