It appears that Nintendo included a Joy-Con drift fix with their Skyward Sword edition of the popular controller, but did they copy it from a YouTuber? Let’s check it out.

As many of you may know by now, the Joy-Con drift issue has plagued the Nintendo Switch controller for a long time now with no long-term solution for it. In the case of the Skyward Sword edition however, it appears that Nintendo implemented a fix inside which many have thought to be a copy of a solution by YouTuber VK.

According to a relatively viral tweet by Chicken Noodle Gamer, the Skyward Sword variant has strips attached inside which were apparently not present in others and designed to fix the Joy-Con drift issue like YouTuber VK’s solution. In the case of VK, he simply suggests putting a piece of cardboard inside which would solve the Joy-Con drift issue.

While this may seem probable at first, it would be hard since VK’s video was published on 14th July 2021 while the Skyward Sword Joy-Cons were launched on 16th July 2021. When you take into account the lengthy process from manufacturing to retail, it would be impossible for Nintendo to copy or even be inspired by the YouTuber.

At the same time, there are other gamers on Twitter who have chimed in on the strips being present inside their regular Joy-Cons as well. This suggests that at one point, Nintendo made the decision to include it to help alleviate the issue, but it’s not present in every single unit.

For now, there is no long-term solution provided by Nintendo and they’ve been keeping relatively quiet about the whole issue. We will report more on this if information becomes available so stay tuned.

Pokdepinion: If they can somehow fix it in time for the Nintendo Switch OLED model launch, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a spike in sales for them. However, I have a feeling that won’t happen and the issue is rooted much deeper, which may require a complete overhaul in design.
