AMD has just launched the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT as their 1080p-focused gaming card. The Radeon RX 6600 XT is based on the new Navi 23 XT GPU, which debuted as a cut-down version in the Radeon RX 6600M. Just like its bigger brethren, the Radeon RX 6600 XT packs all the features of RDNA 2, albeit scaled down to fit its segment.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT: 32CU, 32MB Infinity Cache

amd radeon rx 6600 xt GPU

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT touts a significantly smaller GPU than the Radeon RX 6700 XT, which befits its $100 lower price tag. AMD recommends a SEP of $379 (~RM1604), although they won’t be offering any reference cards of the Radeon RX 6600 XT this time around. You will have to check out the offerings from AMD’s partners if you are interested.

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT packs 32 CUs for a total of 2048 SP, and 32 Ray Accelerators. The relatively low core count allowed AMD to push clocks up on the GPU, with the boost clocks going all the way up to 2589MHz, with the more typically observed Game Clock set at 2359MHz. All this is with a TBP starting from just 160W, which is pretty efficient. On the memory side, AMD will be going with a narrow 128-bit bus here, feeding its 8GB GDDR6 memory, but the 32MB of Infinity Cache should help things along.

amd radeon rx 6600 xt gaming performance

As you would expect, AMD is hoping that gamers will take advantage of features like FidelityFX Super Resolution, Smart Access Memory as well as Radeon Anti-Lag and Radeon Boost to enjoy the most out of the GPU. AMD claims that the Radeon RX 6600 XT is up to 15% faster versus the GeForce RTX 3060, although it is worth mentioning that AMD didn’t reveal raytracing performance, and also the NVIDIA card’s MSRP starts slightly lower at $329. We will be testing the Radeon RX 6600 XT when we can get our hands on it.

amd radeon rx 6600 xt aib cards

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT will be available starting 11th August from AMD’s partners, and it seems that many AIBs will be putting out scaled down versions of their coolers. There’s a slew of two-fan coolers, and even a single-fan cooler from ASRock. Hopefully the smaller cards would be closer to the $379 (~RM1604) SEP.

Pokdepinion: I guess if you can get it at $379, it is a great upgrade from older GPUs, especially with the proven efficiency of RDNA 2.
