Previously as seen on Reddit, one user has shared details about a Steam Deck joystick drift issue, which caused significant worries amongst the gaming community given how badly it plagued the Nintendo Switch Joy Cons. Now, if implemented correctly, it should not be something for anyone to worry about ever again.

Apparently, the Steam Deck joystick drift issue isn’t a hardware problem but instead, it’s a software problem due to some calibration issue. As a result, Valve has issued a new software update so all you have to do is get your handheld gaming device to the latest firmware and you’re good to go.

For added measure, Valve will continue to investigate the matter in case there might be other causes for the issue. After all, manufacturing defects are still possible, so it might not necessarily be the same issue for everyone.

For now, the first batch of Steam Decks are currently being sent out to pre-order customers. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, you will likely need to wait for a few more weeks but it shouldn’t be too long.

Pokdepinion: If this is truly addressed while it’s still new, then Valve has successfully dodged a bullet right there. This could have been an issue right down to hardware design, which would be annoying to fix as it might risk alienating the early adopters.
