Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Game Demands Massive Storage
Respawn Entertainment’s highly anticipated sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is shaping up to be a storage hog. According to recent updates to the game’s required storage space, players will need at least 155 GB of free space to install and play the game.
The game developer has been teasing new features and gameplay mechanics for the upcoming sequel, including town-building mechanics and new AI companions. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor promises to offer players a much larger journey through the galaxy far, far away, but this comes with a hefty price in terms of storage space.
The game’s system requirements were initially leaked back in December 2022, stating a 130 GB file size. The recent update has added another 25 GB to the requirement, making it three times larger than its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
While the game’s minimum hardware requirements do not demand a solid-state drive (SSD), players will certainly benefit from using faster storage solutions like an SSD. HDDs may not be the best option to run the game smoothly due to their slower read and write speeds.
These system requirements are for the PC version of the game, but console players should not expect significant changes. It’s no secret that game file sizes are increasing, especially for modern titles with detailed open worlds and impressive graphics.
However, the question arises whether such a colossal file size is justified for the game’s true scale and whether the storage optimization is efficient. Players will get a chance to see whether the sequel deserves the massive storage space it requires when it launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows on 28th April 2023.
Pokdepinion: Me seeing that file size and thinking of all the friends running their PC with just a single 250GB SSD. I suppose it’s about time 500GB becomes the bare minimum for SSD storage.
