Videocardz has found a shipping manifest of ROG Ally (as they got ahold of the product code), which revealed the exact APU model used by the upcoming handheld console. The model in question is an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U, a chip powered by Zen 4 and Radeon 780M RDNA3 graphics. That said, since ASUS mentions ‘custom’ APU, it’s possible that this may be a slightly modified version of that.

In the FCC database, the product code in question is RC71L (as seen above) and RC71X, though it’s unclear what’s the difference between the two models – it could be as simple as a color variant or an entirely different specifications with different RAM or display configuration, for example.

However, it’s possible that this Ryzen 7 7840U is running as a pre-production hardware – meaning the retail unit may get a slightly different model designation, similar to Microsoft Surface’s special edition Ryzen chips (such as Ryzen 7 4980U Surface Edition). In any case, the ROG Ally is set to launch soon, likely within this quarter.

Pokdepinion: Since it’s essentially a laptop chip – I imagine lightweight laptops can get similar level of performance, if not better, given their size.
