MSI Debuts PRO MP161 As The Brand’s First Portable Monitor
The portable monitor market welcomes a new contestant.
MSI has announced the release of the PRO MP161, a 15.6-inch FHD portable monitor that comes equipped with an anti-glare IPS panel in a slim 10.8mm chassis and weighs just 750 grams. While the company says the monitor is technically capable of accepting display signals from PC to gaming consoles, the spec sheets points to a basic IPS panel that’s more suitable as a secondary monitor for those on-the-go.
The anti-glare display, which uses IPS technology like most panels do, is a very basic one – we’re talking a 15.6-inch, 1080p 60Hz panel with 250 nits of brightness, 6-bit color (with only 262K colors) and a mere 53% of sRGB coverage. It does come with two built-in 1.5W speakers for some basic media consumption duties though. As for the I/O, it accepts mini HDMI port (2.0b) and features two USB-C with DisplayPort 1.2a Alt Mode, with up to 15W of power delivery built-in.
The PRO MP161 also features a fold-out kickstand that enables users to put the display completely flat if needed, which also can be rotated for either horizontal or vertical placements. The monitor can be separately configured through the MSI Display Kit App. No local pricing for the PRO MP161 has been announced just yet – so watch this space.
Pokdepinion: I wish portable monitors can at least up their game to 100% sRGB – such panels in these type of monitors are still rare.
