GIGABYTE's AORUS Gaming Box External GPU Now Comes In RTX 4090 Flavor

The 5.1kg worth of sheer metal and performance in the form of AORUS RTX 4090 Gaming Box makes its entrance as the fourth iteration of this unique product line. This liquid-cooled external GPU packs a 240mm radiator with two 120mm fans taking care of the airflow, cooling the massive AD102 chip as well as VRAM/MOSFET components.

The company says it “minimized the size” of the box, though the dimensions measuring 189 x 302 x 172 mm is still somewhat larger than the outgoing RTX 3080 Gaming Box model. Granted, dealing with extra 130 watts of heat of an already power hungry GPU eventually will require more space for cooling as well as a bigger integrated PSU – which the new model now uses a rather overkill 850W unit than the 550W used in the previous model.

The I/O includes Thunderbolt 3 which should support most laptops with such ports (including Thunderbolt 4), as well as three USB-A ports (5Gbps), with a LAN port and the usual video outputs like its regular counterpart. While no pricing is known so far – don’t expect this unit to come cheap.

Pokdepinion: 5.1kg for a GPU+PSU combo is… something else.
