Twitch is bidding farewell to a feature that failed to gain traction among its user base. Community Moments, a feature that has been in testing for several months, is being discontinued due to its limited usage.

Despite Twitch’s enduring popularity among streamers, it faces fierce competition from other platforms like YouTube and Kick, both of which have attracted high-profile content creators. Additionally, Rumble has been making strides in the streaming landscape. To keep up with the evolving landscape and meet users’ demands for enhanced features, they have undergone various changes in recent years. However, it seems that not all of these changes have been embraced by the community.

While streamers on YouTube have called for improvements to the directory page and Kick streamers have expressed a desire for clip functionality from the outset, one feature they are unlikely to emulate is Community Moments.

Community Moments, introduced a few months ago, awarded viewers a special badge and clip during major livestreams. The chat would often become filled with humorous references to NFTs (non-fungible tokens). However, this feature will soon be retired, as it did not gain the widespread adoption Twitch had anticipated.

Twitch announced on August 31 that the Community Moments beta would be shut down on October 5, 2023. The platform explained, “We’ve made the decision to shut down the Community Moments beta on October 5, 2023, due to limited use from the Twitch community. This will allow us to focus on developing features that bring value to more streamers and their communities in the future.”

Prominent streamers like Esfand noted that very few people had access to this feature, contributing to its limited use across channels. While some creators have voiced their desire to reintroduce Community Moments and expand access, the prospects of such a return appear uncertain.

Pokdepinion: I personally would have liked to see the feature return as it would add more fun for smaller creators on the platforms. I mean, if a lot of people don’t have access to it, obviously there would be limited use.
