Unifi Fibre Customers To Get Free Speed Upgrades In The Coming Months

Good news for Unifi customers: the telecommunications company has announced a free speed upgrade to all fibre internet subscribers, set to be implemented in the coming three months (which should complete by the end of this year). All subscribers will get a free tier jump to the next available, free of charge – except the highest 2Gbps plan and 30Mbps Pakej Perpaduan Rahmah plan (RM69/mo).

Here’s a quick list on which tier you’ll be getting after the speed upgrade:

Before After
30Mbps 100Mbps
100Mbps 300Mbps
300Mbps 500Mbps
500Mbps 800Mbps
800Mbps 1Gbps

This upgrade will also not require a new contract, so there’s nothing required to be done on the users’ side. Though, the company noted that if a new hardware is required for the upgrade, users will be able to choose from signing a new contract or simply pay the one-time price of the upgraded hardware. Should users prefer to use this opportunity to downgrade and save on monthly bills, you can do that, albeit that’ll require a new signed contract as per TM’s terms and conditions.

Following the enforcement on latest MSAP (Mandatory Standard on Access Pricing) regulations, this has triggered another price drop for some packages. New customers will be able to subscribe to these new plans at reduced pricing:

Tier Before After
Unifi 100Mbps RM129/month RM99/month
Unifi 300Mbps RM149/month RM139/month
Unifi 500Mbps RM209/month RM159/month
Unifi 1Gbps RM289/month Unchanged
Unifi 2Gbps RM319/month Unchanged

For 2Gbps subscribers not eligible for free upgrade, TM noted that they’ll be receiving “a token of our appreciation” in the FAQ document – though there’s no mentioning what exactly it will be. The upgrade is expected to roll out in phases across the next three months. Users can check their upgrade status on the landing page here.
