Adobe MAX 2023 Spotlights Company’s AI Visions On Creative Cloud Apps

Adobe’s annual MAX event this year is said to be introducing over 100 new features across various applications under the company’s Creative Cloud suite. Unsurprisingly, the common theme of 2023 keynotes has always been AIs (you can thank ChatGPT for that), and this is no exception.

To kick things off, Adobe announced three new foundation models – Firefly Image 2 Model, Firefly Vector Model and Firefly Design Model. They’re fairly self-explanatory: all three models specializes in different parts of the creation process (to clarify, Design Model specializes in generating templates), so those who use Illustrator would rely on Vector and Design model more frequently than say, the Image 2 model.

The event also sees the preview of Content Credentials – a digital “nutrition label” for AI-generated content that reveals the creator’s name, date, and any edits made on any tools/software. This is part of the company’s efforts to “restore trust online with major brands”.

For Creative Cloud apps, Adobe has named a few recent additions: Generative Fill for Photoshop, Text to Vector Graphic in Illustrator and Text to Template in Express. Upcoming features will include Mockup and Retype, plus a new web version of Illustrator coming soon. For Adobe Lightroom, AI upgrades include Lens Blur, HDR Optimization, Point Color as well as “a new streamlined editing experience” in Lightroom mobile.

AI is also coming to Premiere Pro and After Effects – with the new Text-Based Editing and “motion improvements”. Adobe says Creative Cloud apps should now allow for instant content publishing to various social media platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and more.

As for the free-to-use Adobe Express platform, Generative Fill is now available, along with Text to Template that utilities Firefly’s generative AI capabilities (which builds on the aforementioned Firefly Design Model). The online editing app also offers a Translate feature that helps user localize content with the choice of 45 languages.

Pokdepinion: AI is nice and all – but guardrails are crucial (which I believe regulators and companies alike are somewhat struggling to deal with).
