An Intel Core i7-14700K Has Been Sold In Indonesia, Benchmark Ensues

Another day, another leak for Intel’s upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh (14th Gen) CPUs. In today’s part of unending leaks, one Indonesian retailer has apparently sold a Core i7-14700K to a user, seemingly ignoring (and violating) the embargo that Intel has imposed on retailers and media alike.

This comes from the Reddit user PantatRebus who managed to secure one of these chips on a shelf – and apparently made sure he could buy one of these despite that fact that he shouldn’t be able to (he was given three times the confirmation, apparently). In any case, this looks like a big oversight on the retailer’s part. The user also noted that he bought it for the price of 7.45 million IDR, or roughly RM2,233 at current exchange rates.

In case you need a refresher: the Core i7-14700K is the sole model in Intel’s upcoming launch to feature an increase in the total number of cores. It’ll gain 4 more E-cores over the Core i7-13700K, forming the 8P+12E configuration as opposed to the 8P+8E of old. With that, it’s set to achieve healthy amounts of multicore improvements, making it the most enticing model of the launch lineup.

While Intel has never publicize on the release date (and embargo date) of the upcoming lineup, there’s enough leaks and slip-ups from leakers and retailers alike that we’d safe assume these information are likely correct. Central Computers (an USA store) has confirmed via a banner of Intel’s launch dates, with preorders up a day before the formal launch on 17 October at 6AM PST (9PM Malaysian time).

Pokdepinion: Perhaps Intel need to keep a closer eye on retailers if they wish to keep the leaks in check. Not the easiest thing to do given how leaky things get in this industry, though.
