NVIDIA has just released a new driver, version 545.84, which now includes official support of RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR) to RTX 20 series GPUs. This driver update also brings DLSS 2/3 support in select games, including Naraka: Bladepoint, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, and more.

The biggest feature update comes in the form of RTX Video Super Resolution, which is now labeled as ‘version 1.5’. RTX VSR is designed to upscale videos through the GPU’s Tensor Cores – which is ideal for videos and streams that may not necessarily have the highest resolution available, and is subjected to data compression. The updated models can now de-artifact native resolution videos, and brings support to all Turing-based GPUs – including Quadro RTX workstation GPUs and GeForce RTX 20 series GPUs.

This version also brings even better upscaling and image quality over the original version thanks to a new re-trained VSR AI model, which is now better at differentiating between fine details versus compression artifacts. Previously, the original version will only work if the video is below the native resolution of the display – with this new update, VSR should work even on native resolution to help reduce compression artifacts.

Elsewhere, the driver also provides performance boosts for AI workloads, such as Stable Diffusion. The new TensorRT acceleration designed for Stable Diffusion Web UI is expected to bring 2x more performance on RTX GPUs.

Pokdepinion: I’m going to give it a try again, given that v1.0 wasn’t really obvious to the eye when it comes to upscaling.
