Lenovo Unveils Reduced Carbon Transport Service for Sustainable IT Shipping

Lenovo introduces the Reduced Carbon Transport Service, enabling enterprises to reduce carbon impact in air-shipping IT devices. By purchasing Sustainable Aviation Fuel credits, customers achieve a minimum of 70% CO2 emissions reduction. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) serves as a cleaner substitute, reducing CO2 emissions from airfreight and aiding organizations in meeting Scope 3 emissions targets.

As defined in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Scope 3 emissions – a substantial part of total corporate emissions – include those related to product purchase and disposal. The company’s service offers a tangible way to reduce airfreight emissions, providing customers with confirmation for reporting against their Scope 3 targets, enhancing transparency.

“We’re embedding sustainability deeper into the technology value chain with innovations like Reduced Carbon Transport so that customers have a pathway to more sustainable IT decision-making,” said Claudia Contreras, Executive Director of Global Sustainability Services for Lenovo.

“At Lenovo, we are committed to more than just our own Net-Zero vision. Net-Zero is achieved through a collection of sustainable choices. We are happy to be the trusted business partner and solution provider that helps customers achieve both digital transformation and sustainability success.”

Enterprise customers in North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific can integrate the service with their device purchases. Lenovo, in its service-led transformation, offers other sustainability-focused services as well, including Lenovo CO2 Offset Service and Asset Recovery Services, aiding customers in climate action goals and responsible IT practices.
