Watch: Rockstar Preemptively Revealed GTA VI After Early Leaks
Not quite the “9AM ET” (9PM MYT) reveal time that Rockstar initially slated to release its very first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto title, but here we are: meet GTA VI. The sixth main installment of the famous franchise will take us back to the longtime classic, Vice City – which was the location last featured in GTA Vice City over 21 years ago.
The video was preemptively revealed as a response to a leak on X (Twitter) that revealed the entirety of the trailer itself, which is now available on Rockstar’s YouTube channel. You can watch the 90-second trailer below:
The trailer confirms a few things previously leaked, including the protagonist duo inspired by real-life Bonnie and Clyde story, in the Miami-inspired location that is Vice City. The female protagonist, Lucia, is seen in a prison suit in the beginning of the trailer, and is later seen pulling crimes and stunts with her boyfriend. As with Florida, you also get beaches, cars, and yes – crocodiles.
“Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet,” Rockstar noted. “Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
Rockstar also revealed the release date of GTA VI, which is set on 2025. This differs from the leak yesterday claiming Fall 2024 release; and in the press release, it makes no mentions of PC platforms as part of that launch. It is possible that the game will once again split its release in two dates for consoles and PCs, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions available in 2025, while the PC gamers will have to wait as no date is explicitly mentioned so far.
