NVIDIA’s RTX Technologies Now Featured In 500 Games & Apps

Ever since ray tracing’s very first appearance in games in the form of Battlefield V back in 2018, the state of graphics technology has seen renewed innovation and breakthroughs – and NVIDIA’s RTX features, such as ray tracing, DLSS, and more, are at the forefront of this change. Today, the chipmaker celebrates a milestone – with 500 games and apps now powered by the company’s ray tracing and deep learning-based technologies.

RTX became so well known today thanks in part to the famous “RTX ON” memes, which represent the big jump in graphics fidelity with the “holy grail” of computer graphics. Soon later, NVIDIA introduced DLSS – an upscaling technology that uses Tensor cores to reconstruct the image in higher resolutions. The launch wasn’t smooth, however, as it was riddled with glitches and smearing. Those days have since been left behind as DLSS 2 made its entrance, significantly increasing the upscaling quality over the original version.

Then, DLSS3 and path tracing mark the next phase of RTX graphics, with frame generation and real-time light simulation respectively. Path tracing represents some of the most demanding graphics technology to ever exist, and DLSS has in some ways made it possible to render path tracing in real-time. Today, all of these technologies have made their appearance one way or another in a total of 500 games and apps.
