WhatsApp Brings Group Calling Enhancements

New features include speaker indicator, banner notifications and PiP mode for iOS.

Since the introduction of 32-person group calling feature earlier this year, WhatsApp has since added a few more enhancements for better call experience – which include messaging or muting participants and call links (like most teleconference apps).

This time around, the developers are set to make a few design changes – including “Colorful Waveforms”, which by our understanding is a way to indicate a speaker is speaking with a color ring surrounding the user in the call UI.

Next is in-call banner notifications – fairly self-explanatory. A banner pops up whenever a new person joins the call. Finally, iOS users will soon receive Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, currently on track to release in new year as the beta testing is still in progress.
