WhatsApp Status Feature Now Lets You Pick Who Sees Them
Similar to Instagram’s feature – WhatsApp gives you more granular control over who sees your statuses.
WhatsApp introduces a few quality-of-life update for the Status feature, including limiting audiences, creating voice posts, reactions, new UI and link previews.
Much like Instagram, the Status feature functions similarly as Stories – but now you can limit who can see your status through Private Audience Selector feature. This option can be updated on a per-post basis so you can pick who’s allowed to see your status updates.
Unlike Instagram though, WhatsApp now allows you to create a post entirely from recorded audio (up to 30 seconds). On the other end of the spectrum, users can now respond to statuses using reactions, upon popular request from its userbase when the feature was first introduced in chats.
The UI also received a small update which will reflect posted status by having a ring around their profile photos in chats, contact lists and group participant lists. Finally, link previews will automatically generate thumbnail previews, giving users a heads up on where the link directs to.
The update is currently rolling out to users globally and will be available in the coming weeks, says the developer. Read more on the blog here.
