Microsoft Edge’s Built In PDF Reader Will Soon Be Replaced By Adobe Acrobat

Adobe subscribers will get even more features on top of what the basic Acrobat offers.

Microsoft’s in house browser, Edge, comes with a few unique features that rival browsers do not necessarily have, and one of them is PDF reader that also includes some basic annotating capabilities (Google Chrome, for example, only allows viewing). Seems like the Redmond company isn’t content though, as they teamed up with Adobe to bring Acrobat directly into the browser, replacing what it currently has right now.

With that comes a few more features like you see in full-fledged Acrobat, including more advanced annotations, better security, accessibility features and more. All of this will be natively supported, no browser extension necessary.

If you’re an active subscriber though, a browser extension will be provided to enable additional functionality, including text and image editing, PDF conversion and file merging. The new Adobe-powered PDF viewer will be available in Edge starting March 2023.

Pokdepinion: I actually quite like the PDF reader built into Edge, let’s hope the new one won’t keep nagging me to pay for their bills…
