After skipping out on it last year, the FE lineup is expected to return this year with the impending arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE.

Samsung is set to bring back its Fan Edition (FE) series with the launch of the Galaxy S23 FE, according to a report by South Korean news outlet, The Elec. The Galaxy S22 FE was not launched last year due to the global chip shortage and increased demand for the flagship Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Fan Edition series gained popularity in 2020 with the release of the Galaxy S20 FE, which had over 10 million shipments that year. However, the Galaxy S21 FE did not do so well, prompting Samsung to reconsider its FE lineup releases going forward.

The Elec report suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will launch around August or September 2023, and Samsung will skip the launch of the Galaxy A74 to focus on the S23 FE in more markets. Samsung is also said to be reshaping its Galaxy A-series portfolio, with the A7-series likely to be cut.

The upcoming FE phone will launch with either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy or 2022’s top-performing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Samsung is hoping that the new device will replicate the success of the Galaxy S20 FE and redeem the Fan Edition series after the lackluster performance of the Galaxy S21 FE.

The return of the FE series could be a smart move by Samsung as it looks to expand its portfolio and win over more customers. By launching the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE in more markets, Samsung could tap into the popularity of the Fan Edition series and generate more sales. Additionally, the company’s decision to skip the launch of the Galaxy A74 could be an indication of its commitment to the FE lineup going forward.

Pokdepinion: It would be a smart move to bring the FE series back, especially since the sub-flagship status of the device with the more affordable price. People will likely lean more towards this than their A-series if the price is right.
