LG Malaysia Introduces MyView Smart Monitor 27SR50F To The Market

LG is bringing its competitor to Samsung’s Smart Monitor lineup to Malaysia – the MyView Smart Monitor 27SR50F is a 27-inch monitor capable of offering a “PC-free experience”, and is now available for pre-order.

This monitor comes with a 27-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS panel with 72% NTSC color gamut (equivalent to 100% sRGB), with 250 nits of brightness. The monitor itself is pretty bog standard all things considered, but it’s the internals that make it differ from other conventional monitors. For one, it comes with LG’s webOS 23 operating system, making it essentially a TV packed inside a 27-inch chassis.

Software-wise, it also offers apps like Microsoft 365 and Google’s equivalents, meaning you can work on documents without the need for a dedicated machine. For screen sharing, it supports Miracast and AirPlay 2 from respective smartphone devices. The Home Board Screen offers the user ‘personalised sports profiles’, and customizable support service cards for easy overview of multiple leagues and disciplines. There’s also the LG Mood Music function that supposedly acts as a ‘personal DJ’ that curates playlists based on your preferences.

The MyView Smart Monitor will also support its equivalent of Samsung SmartThings, ThinQ Home Hub – where users can manage various ThinQ IoT devices through the monitor itself, which serves as the hub. Elsewhere, you do still get HDR10 support, a pair of 5W stereo speakers, and I/O consists of two HDMI ports, plus two USB-A downstream ports. The monitor itself also supports 100 x 100 mm VESA mounting, but if you prefer to use the original stand, it’ll offer you just the tilt adjustments.

The monitor is currently available for pre-order exclusively through LG’s official Lazada store at the price of RM1,049 – the pre-order period will remain until January 21, 2024.

Pokdepinion: There’s a lot in common comparing this to Samsung’s Smart Monitor series. Pretty surprising there’s a market for it though.
