GTA 5 Is Getting A Nintendo Switch Port? Leaks Suggest So

It looks like the leak of GTA 5’s source code has started to reveal some rather interesting details behind the closed doors of Rockstar Games. Despite being a 10-year-old game at this point, the game may end up in an unlikely place eventually: Nintendo Switch.

This information is spotted by user @Budzcario on X (Twitter), in which the lines of code noted the string ‘NX64’ refers to Nintendo Switch. Rockstar previously has released the Switch port for their older releases, which includes the original Red Dead Redemption (originally released in 2010 for PS3 & Xbox 360) and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which consists of three games originally released on PS2, Xbox, and PC during 2001-2004.

To run a game of GTA 5’s caliber is quite the engineering challenge, to say the least. The original release for PS3-era consoles already sees some feature and performance deficiencies to its modern-day PS4-era ports, so running it on the limited computational power available on Nintendo’s handheld console would likely require some significant rework. If it does happen though, it’s nothing short of a feat in itself, given just how many platforms the title has spawned itself on across 10 years.

In the meantime, Rockstar Games is also in active development for the next major Grand Theft Auto release.

Pokdepinion: If it could run on Switch, I guess anything could at this point.
