vivo X100 Series Officially Launched In Malaysia

Chinese smartphone maker vivo is officially launching its latest flagship, the vivo X100 and vivo X100 Pro, into the Malaysian market, which officially marks its international debut. The new flagship continues its partnership with German optics company ZEISS and comes with a new co-processing chip for enhanced photography.

Starting with the camera department, the X100 Pro comes with a trio of sensors – the primary being a 50MP 1-inch sensor, coupled with another 50MP APO floating telephoto camera and a third 50MP sensor for ultrawide duties. The telephoto lens comes with the “Vario-Apo-Sonnar” design courtesy of ZEISS, which is a variable focal length lens system that features apochromatic layers to minimize a phenomenon called chromatic aberration.

As for the vanilla X100, it gets the 50MP VCS main camera, a 64MP ZEISS telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Both models utilize ZEISS T* coating that reduces reflectance. However, there’s one crucial difference between the two when it comes to computational photography: the X100 Pro will be the sole model using the company’s new V3 co-processor, whereas the X100 will stick to the existing V2 co-processor used in the X90 series instead.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC is also providing both devices capabilities to run graphics-heavy games, and on top of that, they’ll come equipped with upscaling and frame interpolation technologies to deliver more framerates (think of it as NVIDIA DLSS/AMD FSR of sorts). In terms of battery, the X100’s cell comes with 5000mAh and supports 120W fast charging, whereas the X100 Pro comes with a slightly larger 5400mAh cell that supports slightly less 100W fast charging (on top of wireless fast charging capabilities).

As for the pricing, it’ll start from RM3,499 for the base model X100 (512GB+16GB), and the X100 Pro with the same storage configuration will cost you RM4,599. Pre-orders are now live for online purchases, with retail pre-orders set to follow on 6 January 2024. Customers are eligible for free gifts, including 6-month screen protection and various gadgets upon purchase.

Pokdepinion: Pretty capable set of cameras, I’d say.
