Amid Protests, Grab Reaffirms Delivery-Partners Benefit From New Pricing Structures

Recently, Grab Malaysia introduced the new #SaveWithGrab campaign that aims to reduce the financial burden of its users, this was met with criticism among delivery and ride partners, with some of them choosing to strike in protest. Allegedly, the new price structure with reduced fares effectively meant less money was earned per trip, requiring longer work hours to maintain the same amount of income.

“We are aware that a subset of our delivery-partners are facing challenges with the new earning structure and we are engaging them closely to understand their concerns while also encouraging feedback and fostering ongoing discussions,” Grab said in a press release while reaffirming its stance. “The new earning structure is part of Grab Malaysia’s commitment to foster economic growth for all Malaysians.”

The company says the new earning structure ensures those who work more will be “more fairly compensated.” The same applies to drivers who do longer trips and complete bookings during high-demand periods. Adding to that, Grab says it is “observing a good number of (its) active delivery-partners benefiting from the new earning structure from the last few days.”

“We will continue to engage closely with our delivery-partners to help them understand and gather feedback on our new earning structure and look forward to them benefitting from it. As a platform, we’re committed to providing Malaysians with accessible earnings opportunities that are both flexible and sustainable. We sincerely thank our delivery-partners for engaging with us in a constructive and peaceful manner.”
