Peugeot, the renowned French automaker, is embracing artificial intelligence with the incorporation of OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its I-Cockpit infotainment system. This move follows the trend set by other European car manufacturers like Volkswagen and DS Automobiles.

With a simple “Ok Peugeot” command, users can now engage in human-like conversations with ChatGPT, making driving experiences more interactive. The AI assistant is capable of providing helpful tips, directions, or engaging in casual chats while on the road. Impressively, the voice assistant demonstrates an understanding of context and handles both simple and complex topics seamlessly.

However, it’s essential to note that Stellantis, Peugeot’s parent company, hasn’t revealed deeper car integration details. Unlike some competitors that offer hands-free control of in-car features, Peugeot’s ChatGPT-powered assistant appears primarily designed for interactive conversations without adjusting car settings.

Peugeot owners can take advantage of this innovative feature by visiting the official Service Store and enabling ChatGPT for free during the next six months, part of an exclusive pilot program. As slots are limited to 10,000 people, interested users are encouraged to act swiftly.

Eligible vehicles for this AI integration include recent models such as the 208, 2008, 308, 308SW, 408, 508, 508 SW, E-3008, E-RIFTER, E-TRAVELLER, E-Partner, and E-Expert. Furthermore, the feature will soon extend to the new E-5008 model. Stay tuned for a smarter and more interactive driving experience with Peugeot’s ChatGPT-powered I-Cockpit infotainment system.

Pokdepinion: If there are any hard limitations on what ChatGPT can do in the infotainment system, I can’t wait to see people break that and do all sorts of crazy things with it. Give it about 3 months and I’m sure we’ll see people come up with things using it that would seem like a very farfetched concept just a few years ago.
