Farewell, GTX: The Last Of NVIDIA GTX Series Is Now Officially Discontinued

Following the rumors from last December that NVIDIA is discontinuing the final GTX series on its portfolio, the latest information from the Board Channels forum has confirmed that Team Green has pulled the plug for its GTX 16 series, ending one of the most storied nameplates in the GPU industry.

The post reads (translated by Videocardz):

According to the NVIDIA GPU product roadmap, the GTX 16 series has been completely discontinued in the first quarter of 2024. Currently, all remaining GPU stock has been allocated to AIC brand manufacturers until their inventories are depleted. In other words, NVIDIA has officially ceased production of the GTX 16 series GPUs, declaring the historical mission of discontinuing the GTX 1660S, 1660, 1650, and 1630 graphics cards. Going forward, neither NVIDIA nor the core AIC brand manufacturers will supply GTX 16 GPUs to channel partners. It is estimated that the remaining inventory of GTX 16 series in the market will be consumed within the next 1-3 months.”

At this time, the final two products still holding the fort for this generation are the entry-level GTX 1650 and the GTX 1630. The GTX 1650 is replaced by the 70W RTX 3050 6GB, while the GTX 1630 finds itself in a spot that is getting replaced by ever-powerful onboard graphics offered by CPUs today.

While the hardware is officially discontinued and stock is expected to deplete in the coming months, NVIDIA will continue to support these GPUs with new drivers for the foreseeable future. In fact, it may take quite a few years – given that even the decade-old GTX 700 series is still supported by the latest drivers today.

Pokdepinion: Happy retirement, GTX!
