Xiaomi 14 Unboxing and First Impressions
We got our hands on the new Xiaomi 14 but before we publish the review, have a taste of it with our unboxing and first impressions.
Xiaomi 14 Unboxing
Kicking off the Xiaomi 14 review with the unboxing, it comes in a packaging that is identical to its direct predecessor, clad in white. The Pro and the Ultra models came in a black box, and we expect it to be the same this year as well. Inside the box, we found the following items:
- USB-C to USB-C cable
- SIM ejector pin
- Protective case
- 90W charger
- Documentations
- The Xiaomi 14 itself
First Impressions
For our review unit, we received the white colorway, giving it quite a clean look that makes me not want to use a protective case on it. Sadly, the fact that it collects fingerprint smudges like Jeffrey Epstein collects little girls is a solemn reminder that I need a case to be used in all occasions. If white is not to your liking, you do have the choice to get it in Black, Pink, and Jade Green.
When I first saw this, I was genuinely confused as it looked pretty much the same as its predecessor, the 13. With that being said however, I still do enjoy how it looks. There’s a touch of elegance here that you’d expect from a flagship, and it doesn’t feel like you got something noticeably cheaper just because you don’t opt for the Ultra variant. The Leica branding is prominent on the camera housing, so you know you’re in for a treat there.
Flip the Xiaomi 14 over and you get a gorgeous 6.36-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED display with adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz as well as punchhole camera cutout. The brightness can go up to a whopping 3,000 nits peak, and you get Gorilla Glass Victus here for added protection. The bezels are a little bit thick by today’s standards but I’d still say it’s within acceptable range. I do hope the Ultra will be thinner in this regards.
Like other flagships, the Xiaomi 14 gets the latest Qualcomm flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, mated to a 12GB RAM / 512GB storage memory configuration. It’s also powered by the new HyperOS, based on Android 14. For now, check out its specifications right below here:
