Allianz EV Shield - Allianz Malaysia Introduces Industry-First EV Coverage

Dubbed the Allianz EV Shield, this innovative offering provides comprehensive coverage under the Private Car Comprehensive policy, addressing the unique needs and concerns of EV owners in Malaysia.

One of the standout features of the Allianz EV Shield is its industry-first coverage for on-the-go charging, a crucial aspect for EV owners facing the challenge of vehicle stalling due to battery depletion. The initiative introduces the Allianz EV Rangers, a pioneering service currently piloting in the Klang Valley. These specialized teams offer on-the-spot charging to provide enough range to reach the nearest charging facility, ensuring uninterrupted journeys for EV owners.

Policyholders can also benefit from a range of coverage options designed to address various touchpoints related to EV charging. This includes financial protection of up to RM15,000 for losses or damages caused by fire, theft, or natural causes to wall boxes, along with RM2,000 coverage for losses resulting from fire, theft, or accidental causes for portable charging cables.

Moreover, the Allianz EV Shield extends compassionate coverage of up to RM5,000, offering support for repair costs or medical expenses in the event of mishaps occurring while charging using a public EV charger. Additionally, policyholders are covered up to RM50,000 for third-party bodily injury and property damage resulting from the insured’s direct use of an EV home wall charger.

Sean Wang, Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Malaysia, emphasized the company’s commitment to redefining roadside assistance and delivering premium customer experiences. Wang highlighted the holistic approach of the Allianz EV Shield in addressing common mishap touchpoints, ensuring seamless solutions for EV owners. He also reassured customers of Allianz Malaysia’s dedication to providing top-notch service, including swift response in emergencies and protection from unscrupulous practices following accidents or breakdowns.

With the introduction of the Allianz EV Shield, Allianz Malaysia continues to lead the way in the insurance industry by offering innovative solutions tailored to the evolving needs of modern vehicle owners, particularly in the burgeoning EV market.

Pokdepinion: This was bound to happen sooner or later, and I expect other insurance providers will follow suit. As for which would be the best coverage plan at that point, we’ll have to wait and see.
