Intel Battlemage GPU Potentially Surfaced Via SiSoftware Sandra Database

Intel has had a rough start for its GPU adventure – the Arc Alchemist was initially marred with major bugs, and questions loomed on whether Intel may commit to its GPU business upon much criticism for its products at launch. Many months later, the situation has greatly improved and Team Blue has been largely successful in weathering the storm.

Team Blue’s next-gen GPU architecture codenamed ‘Battlemage’ is the subject of today’s leak. Information regarding the Xe2-HPG has been extremely scarce up until this point, and the first glimpse we have with Battlemage seems to be on the SiSoftware Sandra’s database. It’s worth noting that an Intel Fellow, Tom Petersen, has confirmed that over 30% of its GPU personnel is dedicated to Battlemage’s software development, while the rest has been moved to Celestial – the successor of Battlemage.

The two entries on the SiSoftware Sandra page show two chips – one with 20 Xe-Cores (160 EUs / 2560 ALUs), and the other with 24 Xe-Cores (192 EUs / 3072 ALUs). Both feature roughly 12GB of VRAM, so one can safely assume these are mid-range products (by Arc standards) with 192-bit memory bus. Both chips also listed 1.8GHz clock speeds, though as with the nature of engineering samples – this will likely be higher in the final product.

For reference, the flagship Arc Alchemist GPU, the Arc A770, has 32 Xe-Cores, while the more mainstream A750 has 28 Xe-Cores on tap. The performance of the two Battlemage SKUs is likely to match these models, provided with the improvements made over the new architecture.

Pokdepinion: Looks like it could give the RTX 4060 a run for its money with that extra VRAM.
