Razer Marches On With Its 2030 Sustainability Targets 24

In time for Earth Day 2024, Razer unveils significant progress in its 10-year sustainability roadmap aimed at mitigating environmental impact throughout product lifecycles, operations, and supply chains. Among the notable achievements is the company’s announcement of restructuring manufacturing lines to incorporate up to 85% recycled materials across its primary PC peripheral categories of mice, keyboards, and headsets in base models.

Aligned with the Paris Climate Accord’s ambitious goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, Razer’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for 2030 have earned validation from the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). “The cumulative effect of incorporating recycled materials into a wider range of products significantly expands Razer’s positive impact on the environment,” says Kenneth Ng, Razer’s Global Sustainability Lead.

With an ambitious 90% absolute reduction target for operational emissions from a 2019 baseline, and a 55% intensity reduction goal in indirect emissions within its upstream and downstream value chain by 2030, the company is employing a multifaceted strategy: this strategy encompasses transitioning to clean renewable energy for corporate offices, incorporating recycled materials into products, prioritizing less carbon-intensive transportation methods, and promoting participation in takeback and recycling programs.

Razer Progresses On With Its 2030 Sustainability Targets

Under the banner of #GoGreenWithRazer, the brand’s 10-year sustainability roadmap aims to preserve nature and protect the environment, ensuring a cleaner, greener world for future gaming enthusiasts. Razer projects that after one year of implementing recycled materials in its engineering process, 65% of the company’s annual shipped volume will contain recycled materials. This includes the elimination of plastics and replacing them with FSC-certified paper packaging with soy ink printing, as well as recycling and rewards programs available for users.
