Nightingale Update 0.2 Focuses On Crafting System & Attribute Adjustments

In a recent Developer Update, Inflexion unveiled the latest progress in Nightingale’s Crafting Update, set to arrive via Update 0.2 next week. As the version number implies – the open-world, survival-crafting game is currently on Early Access and has been since this February.

One of the notable changes in Update 0.2 is the reintroduction of attribute stacking – players can once again use the same material multiple times when crafting gear; items will now inherit attributes from resources used in crafting, even if the item doesn’t originally possess those attributes. On top of that, the number of attributes has been consolidated and adjusted for improved intuitiveness and value.

In response to player feedback, the crafting system’s attribute application has been streamlined for clarity. Previously, an item’s stats were based on multiplying baseline stats with added resources. However, this approach proved unintuitive for some players – to address this, attributes from resources will now directly apply to the crafted item. To maintain balance with the increased attribute options, resources will now offer a reduced number of attributes across three categories: Resilience, Athletics, and Intellect.

While attribute stacking has returned, the team plans to implement a soft cap and hard cap system, as the studio believes that excessive stacking “discouraged exploration and experimentation,” on top of causing a few bugs and unintended exploits. Inflexion notes that this feature will come in a future update, as it “didn’t quite make it into (version) o.2”.

Pokdepinion: Quite a few rough edges to sort out – still, lots of adjustments to be expected given this is still early.
