As Sony gears up for the official unveiling of its Xperia 1 VI on May 17, leaks surrounding the device continue to flood the internet. The latest leak reveals details about the phone’s camera island, suggesting larger camera modules compared to its predecessor, the Xperia 1 V. This contradicts earlier rumors and adds to the anticipation surrounding the device.

Sony Xperia 1 VI Getting a Price Cut?

While rumors swirl, one consistent theme is the anticipated loss of the Xperia 1 VI’s 4K display, possibly in favor of a slightly more common aspect ratio. However, amidst the speculation, one crucial aspect has remained undisclosed – the price. Today, insights emerge from Taiwan, indicating a potential price drop compared to its predecessor.

Reportedly, the Xperia 1 VI may retail for TWD 39,900 in Taiwan, a slight reduction from the TWD 41,990 price tag of the Xperia 1 V. While this may not represent a significant price cut, it offers hope for prospective buyers. Yet, it remains uncertain whether similar reductions will apply globally or if this is an isolated occurrence.

Pokdepinion: Even if it doesn’t translate to lower prices globally, it’s at least a good sign we won’t be seeing a price increase. Otherwise, that would make the phone that much harder to sell, which is unfortunate as I really enjoyed using its predecessor and I have high hopes for this one.
