HUAWEI’s long-standing P Series flagships have been officially rebranded – the Chinese smartphone maker announced the new Pura 70 series, leading the brand’s flagship roster with a brand new name. Malaysians can now pre-order the new lineup consisting of three devices: the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, and Pura 70 Ultra (the Pura 70 Pro+ is not included in this launch).

So, specs: the Pura 70 Ultra comes with Kirin 9010 SoC on the older 7nm process, with storage options up to 16GB+512GB in local markets. One of the standout features of this model is the retractable lens on the main 50MP sensor capable of a combined 200x zoom, while a secondary 50MP telephoto lens and a 40MP ultrawide shooter complete the rear camera setup. Elsewhere, it features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display housed under the Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass, a 5,200mAh battery with up to 100W fast charging, and a unique leather-esque design on the back.

Moving on to Pura 70 Pro, the specs are taken slightly down a notch – in the camera department, you get the 50MP main + 48MP telephoto + 12.5MP ultrawide combination, and you get slightly less RAM at 12GB (paired with 512GB of storage). Battery capacity is also slightly smaller, at 5,050mAh – although you get the same charging and reverse charging capabilities as the Ultra model.

Finally, the entry ticket to the HUAWEI’s latest flagship lineup is the Pura 70: this model is physically smaller at 6.6 inches diagonally, and you have a 12GB+256GB option here in Malaysia. The camera setup is mostly identical to the Pro model, albeit the telephoto lens is now a 12MP periscope unit that provides 5x optical zoom (as opposed to 3.5x in the higher-end models that do not use periscope design). Battery and charging specs are also lowered, with 4,900mAh and 66W wired fast charging.

All three models of the new HUAWEI Pura 70 Series are now available for preorder starting today and ending on 24 May 2024. As for the pricing, the standard Pura 70 is priced at RM3,699; the Pura 70 Pro costs RM4,899; whereas the Ultra variant will set you back for RM6,599.
