We’ve observed many attempts from Microsoft to upsell Windows 11 users with additional features in the form of ads, ads, ads, and even more ads. In an age where companies will fight for every chance imaginable to cram more ads within your field of vision, this app with the rather expletive name “Oh F*ck Go Back” (OFGB for short) aims to bring some sanity back to the operating system that the technology giant has struggled to expand.

Those familiar with internet memes will understand where the name comes from, and it is – in my opinion – a fairly accurate description of what Windows 11 has become. Despite Windows 11 technically being a paid software (it’s just included in the price of the new laptop you bought), having the digital equivalent of pest infestation is just not most people’s cup of tea.

The premise of OFGB is incredibly simple: it handles the registry editing to disable elements within the Windows 11 operating system featuring service upsells all in a single menu, though you’ll have to reboot the system to apply the changes.

Maddy, the app’s creator, told Tom’s Hardware: “I was getting more and more annoyed by ads in random places and decided to try to find an easy fix. After coming across a .reg file by Shawn Brink, I found my answer. After thinking more about it, I figured it may be accessible to more people if there was a GUI so that less tech-savvy people could easily set the registry keys without needing any knowledge of the registry.”
